Due to the very selective target of abnormal cells, scarring is very minimal. Local discomfort around the lesion immediately after the treatment is the most common side effect of PDT. Mild to moderate redness and swelling through inflammation are normal after the treatment but these changes are usually resolved very quickly.

To avoid permanent discoloring of the skin, we recommend keeping the treatment site covered to protect from the sun for the first 2 days after PDT.
